The Llechwedd Deep Mine is a family friendly tour which take you 500ft
underground on Britain’s steepest cable railway. Where our friendly guides,
dressed in Victorian miners’ costumer take you on an unforgettable journey
through chambers that were literally dug by hand.
The Quarry Explorer is an off road adventure that will take you right into the
heart of Llechwedd’s man-made mountains. Travelling in a military 4 x 4 truck
you’ll drive up high up to the top of the quarry and into some of the massive
craters that were made by blasting the tops off our hundred-year-old caverns.
You’ll learn more about how this amazing landscape was formed, and why it is
now the subject of a UNESCO World Heritage Status bid. You’ll take in views
of North Wales like no other and have the opportunity to snap some great

Refreshment Stop – With free parking why not stop off at Llechwedd for
a fresh cup of tea, coffee and delicious cakes. Or have a hot meal in the
Caverns Cafe with options including soup and traditional Lobscows –
a Welsh stew the miners would have eaten underground.
Meetings/Conferences – Plas Weuynydd is a boutique hotel situated
at the entrance to the historic North Wales slate quarry, Llechwedd.
Opening June 2020, Plas Weunydd will be a 24-bedroom boutique hotel,
and is the latest development at the heart of North Wales’ most exciting
tourist attraction following the successful launch of six glamping safari
tents – one of only five sites in Wales to earn a Gold Star award from
Visit Wales. Having been listed in numerous national top 20 lists for
exciting new Hotel Openings, it’s certainly one for the diary.
Our newly refurbished conference centre allows comfortable space
within a modernised building overlooking Llechwedd. The Hen Siop
centre will comfortably cater up to 60 people.
